- Scarina was born in 1823 in the Hudson River Valley. She likes these magic-lantern shows you call "movies" very much. As weird as some of these movies are, she still thinks history can be much more strange--try looking up the Calico Indians, a history of feral children, or the Hartford circus fire of 1944. Some of her non-horror related favorite things include; scratching kitties on their chins, the Civil War, actually make that war history in general, especially World War Two and Vietnam eras, burlesque shows, Guinness beer, and funny cartoons like Archer.

I’m not going to lie, I spent a good portion of “The Evil Dead” ogling young Bruce Campbell and hoping his shirt would “accidentally” rip open. No such luck. Continue reading

Am I Pretty?
What I learned from “Carved: The Slit-Mouthed Woman” is to run whenever anyone approaches you while wearing a face-mask. I recommend this movie to people who think that all Japanese horror is lank-haired ghosts lurking in wells. Continue reading

This Movie Slithered Into my Heart
The movie “Slither” slithered ino my heart and took over my central-nervous system. Now I’m it’s slave. Also, I can’t believe that I compared “Slither” to an Octavia E. Butler series. Continue reading

In this entry, I revisit the uncensored version of a movie that terrified me when I was a teenager, “The Beyond.” Huzzah for Italian zombie movies! Continue reading
